In an encouraging development in the urban development segment, all the pending projects under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM), including underground drainage, drinking water projects, and Bus Rapid Transit System, which are currently in full swing, are heading for completion by July this year, Municipal Commissioner, Visakhapatnam in AP, Pravin Kumar, said. There would be no water problem to industry and domestic needs in the near future, and that the government's approval to divert water from Raiwada and Tandava reservoirs is expected very shortly. Meanwhile, the Steel Plant had agreed to pump water from the groynes of the Sarada River. As a matter of fact, a large number of projects worth Rs. 2,000-cr are ready but could not be started due to government's approval and scarcity of funds.
