The state cabinet in a recent decision has cleared six smart city projects covering cities like Eluru, Nellore, Ongole, Ananthapur, and Kurnool as smart cities. The development works on the targeted cities will be hastened under the smart cities plan. The state administration has directed the agencies to start the Urban Infra Development Corporation to develop Vijayawada and Guntur as world-class cities. The CM said that the State would get Rs. 2,500-cr and also accepted the proposal to construct the city square complex at PWD grounds in Vijayawada city under Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode. In addition, the cabinet has also approved 185 km outer ring road and 98 km inner ring road after prolonged negotiations.
