The AP government has recently cleared new road projects for the east Godavari and Vizag districts, involving investment of Rs.2,000 crore, state's roads and buildings minister, Ch. Ayyanna Patrudu said. The new road project connecting east Godavari and Visakhapatnam districts via Agency area, would be among the best road projects matching national standards. The state government's policy of proper deployment of finances was able to make better use of the funds earmarked under the NREGS and various schemes under the finance commissions to lay cement concrete roads over a stretch of 15,000 km in the state in the last three years. The Centre released funds for widening of 1,000 km of national highways in the state this year. The minister recently laid the foundation stone for the Pithapuram-Konapapapeta road at Isukapalle in east Godavari district entailing an investment of Rs.160 crore.
