AP earmarks ₹5,661-cr for housing and infra sector

AP Government is planning to provide the required infrastructure and commencing construction works of houses under the Pedalandariki Illu scheme, one of the flagship programs of the current regime under Navaratnalu, and has allocated ₹5,661.57 crore for housing and infrastructure. The government has set a target to build 28.3 lakh houses with a project cost of ₹50,940 crore, including the Centre's share, in two phases covering all the beneficiaries. The house sites have been distributed in 17,005 layouts named YSR Jagananna Colonies, wherein the government will provide basic infrastructure facilities like water supply, electricity, approach roads, internal roads and drains and other social infrastructure. In fact, the State government already distributed about 30 lakh house sites of 1.50 cent in rural areas and 1 cent in urban areas with a value worth ₹23,535 crore to women beneficiaries free of cost. The government will also deliver sale agreements about 2.62 lakh TIDCO houses worth ₹21,345 crore to eligible women beneficiaries in urban areas. Housing Minister CH Ranganatha Raju informed that the CM is keen on taking up the housing scheme and has already given instructions to take up the needed infrastructure like water, roads, underground electricity cables, internet cables in the layouts simultaneously right from the start of the construction works.
