The Union government is all set to inject huge funds to boost the road infrastructure of Andhra Pradesh including the four-laning work of Nandigama-Kanchikacherla bypass road, upgrading of the No.16 National Highway Bridge connecting Rajahmundry and Morampudi Junction. These apart, they also included funds for National Waterways (No.4), work on six-laning of the Vijaywada-Gundugolanu section of the National Highway No.5 (under EPC module) and developmental works on several junctions of the National Highways were also being speeded up, Union Transport Minister said. In view of this, Andhra Pradesh could also turn out to be the trailblazer in inland waterways in the country with almost length and breadth of the state getting connected under both Sagar Maala and Bharat Maala schemes and these projects are slated to be completed before the 2019.
