AP announces Rs. 13,000 cr metro project

In its quest to provide top class transportation facilities in the upcoming state capital, Amaravathi, the AP Chief Minister, Chandrababu Naidu has recently announced an ambitious metro rail project involving a staggering investment worth Rs. 13,000cr. In this connection, the state government has approved the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the construction of 42.5-km metro railway track in the city and has also sent the DPR to the Union Ministry of Urban Development for approval. The concerned authorities have hoped that all formalities would be completed by the end of this fiscal and that the works would begin shortly thereafter. In addition, the state government is also keen on building the 25-km long metro rail project connecting Amaravathi with Vijayawada and is planning to invite tenders for the work in the next few months, said the civic department official sources.
