Andhra Pradesh Govt Approves Metro Projects for Visakhapatnam & Vijayawada

The Andhra Pradesh government has approved Phase-I metro rail projects for Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada, with a combined investment of ₹22,507 crore.
Visakhapatnam’s project, costing ₹11,498 crore, includes three corridors covering 46.23 km with 42 stations. Land acquisition will require 99.75 acres at ₹882 crore. In Phase-II, the network will expand by 76.90 km, adding a corridor to Bhogapuram under a public-private partnership (PPP) model, with an estimated cost of ₹14,309 crore. The central government will contribute 40% of the funding, with private developers covering the rest.
The Vijayawada metro project, valued at ₹11,009 crore, will feature two corridors spanning 38.40 km with 34 stations. Land acquisition for the project is estimated at ₹1,152 crore.
