Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a review meeting in Jammu to assess progress of development projects in Jammu and Kashmir, focusing on road infrastructure, power, industry, tourism, and 4G and optical fibre connectivity. The meeting, attended by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and senior officials, evaluated implementation timelines and project delivery on the ground. Shah stressed the need to fully harness Jammu and Kashmir’s hydropower potential and directed faster execution to meet growing energy demand. He called for aggressive marketing of tourist destinations and assured central support for developing new circuits to expand visitor footfall.

The minister emphasised creation of modern sports infrastructure and sports academies, with efforts to secure about Rs 200 crore investment through national sports bodies. He also urged promotion of the dairy sector in collaboration with the National Dairy Development Board. Jammu and Kashmir has been included for the first time under the SASCI scheme for FY 2025–26, enabling 50-year interest-free loans for capital projects to strengthen fiscal stability and accelerate infrastructure growth.
