In a bid to provide better road connectivity to the new capital of Andhra Pradesh, the Amaravati Development Corporation (ADCL) has launched road widening work of the river bund road at Karakatta in Undavalli at an investment of ₹538 crore. The area has become accident-prone due to the single lane 20-feet wide road, which will now be expanded to a four-lane. Initially, it will be widened for about 7-8 km from the Sitarampuram Hill Junction to near Mantena Satyanarayanaraju Ashram, and in the second phase, it will be connected to the Seed Access Road. The contractor for the project has already been finalised and construction work will be taken up on a war footing.
