The Airport Authority of India (AAI) has floated tenders inviting bidders from eligible engineering consultants for the work of Engineering Consultancy for Construction of New Domestic Terminal Building of Kolhapur Airport. Among others, the project included building ATC tower-cum-technical block-cum-fire station and associated works and the consultant will suggest the feasibility of construction of these structures in details, including the capacity of the airport considering expected crowd and future expansion of the airport. The tendering process has given a push to the long awaited expansion of the Kolhapur Airport. It also included the extension of runway, isolation bay, setting up of RESA, taxiway apron, new domestic terminal building, and ATC tower. The agency bagging tender will study the feasibility and identify spots where these infrastructural amenities will be constructed. The agency will also study the impact of daily environment, climatic condition at the airport, moisture, sunlight, and other factors.
