839 Projects Worth ₹5.79 Lakh Cr Identified Under Sagarmala Programme; 74 Connectivity Projects Completed

Under the Sagarmala Programme, 272 road and rail connectivity projects have been identified to enhance port-linked infrastructure across the country. These are being executed by various agencies, including the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Ministry of Railways, Major Ports, and private concessioners. Of the total, 74 projects have been completed, 67 are under implementation, and 131 are in the development stage.

At the apex of the Sagarmala framework, a National Sagarmala Apex Committee has been constituted to provide policy guidance, ensure high-level coordination, and oversee project planning and implementation. The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways also regularly convenes Maritime States Development Council (MSDC) meetings to foster collaboration between Central Ministries and State Governments.

As part of the broader Sagarmala Programme, 839 projects have been identified for implementation at an estimated cost of ₹5.79 lakh crore. Of these, 119 projects worth ₹2.42 lakh crore are being implemented through the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, while the remaining projects follow the EPC mode with direct government funding.

To enhance financial efficiency and accelerate execution, the Ministry has revised the Sagarmala Funding Guidelines for projects funded under the scheme.
