The 14th VDMA Mechanical Engineering Summit at Taj Yeshwantpur drew 350+ delegates from 29 cities across India and Europe. Opening the event, VDMA India MD Rajesh Nath underscored India’s rise in manufacturing and unveiled VDMA’s new logo.

Guest of Honour Achim Burkart, Consul General of Germany, called the proposed EU–India FTA a catalyst for deeper economic and strategic ties. Rajnish Sharma (BEL) outlined opportunities in a fast-growing defence ecosystem, urging stronger supply chains and tech partnerships. Oliver Richtberg (VDMA Frankfurt) mapped global headwinds and flagged India as a prime growth market for European mechanical engineering.

Knowledge releases included BDB India’s paper on electronics, semiconductors and batteries; a VDMA Summit Special Issue; a skills report by Maier Vidorno Altios; and S.S. Rana & Co.’s note on ADR frameworks. Technical sessions from EPLAN, ABB and Festo showcased industrial AI, autonomous operations and sustainable automation.

The 8th Manufacturing Excellence Awards honoured firms across CSR, Energy Efficiency and Work Safety; top winners included Bosch Global Software Technologies, Aumovio, LESER India and SMS India.

The day closed with a CXO panel on the “3 Ts” shaping Indian manufacturing—technology, trends and talent, and networking cocktails.
