13,733 km of Rural Roads Layed in 3 Years in Tamil Nadu

The Tamil Nadu government reported that 13,733 km of rural roads were laid in the past three years as part of a larger project to improve infrastructure across the state. Under the initiative, 18,899 km of roads and 83 bridges were sanctioned at a cost of Rs 9,030 crore, with projects worth Rs 5,219 crore completed, including 22 bridges.
Additionally, the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) has provided employment to 10.11 lakh families, distributing Rs 34,609 crore in wages over the past three years. Notably, 86.26% of the beneficiaries were women. This year, MGNREGS is being implemented with an allocation of Rs 6,359 crore.
