Having executed a major order of mobile cranes for the third phase expansion of Reliance Jamnagar refinery, Sany India is expecting firm rebound in demand for its cranes by the end of 2014. Followed by the revival in demand, it also foresees pricing competition getting healthier among the manufacturers added with strategy to minimize delivery schedules to gain business share. According to Mr. Deepak Garg, CEO, Sany Heavy Industry India, to get well accommodated into the competitive evolving business scenario, Sany India will look to introduce cranes- localized and tailor made-in accordance with the requirements of the Indian market, added with investments on its channels of product support. Strategy to take forward localization and customized cranes for Indian market.
With firm indications in revival of demand, we have renewed our focus on localization and introduction of cranes, suitable for the Indian applications. One of our major recent initiatives towards localization in India has been manufacturing of 25 tons truck mounted crane SANYSPC250 on Indian AMW truck chassis powered by World Class Engine from Cummins and the high torque Gear Box & PTO from ZF, Germany. The SANY SPC250 is much more sturdy, robust and stable for handling loads of upto 25T, as compared to the conventional cranes available in India today. The crane is designed to meet with International Load Rating Standards wherein the actual load ratings are 75% of the maximum tipping capacity. The crane has been delivered for deployment at SAIL and is successfully working at its steel yard in Durgapur. Taking forward localization, we will soon be indigenizing our 80-100-150 tons crawler lattice boom cranes. We further have plans to assemble 260 tons crawler cranes at our plant in Pune. The partial indigenization of some of the products were planned and done by Sany some time back. However, they were deferred followed by dip in demand of cranes. These plans have now been revived. Under the plan, enhanced volumes of fabrication, sourcing of basic structure and engines, hydraulic parts and winches will be done in India. The safety features are at par with global standards and can be customized as per the requirement. We will be carrying out engineering customization to make the cranes attuned to the Indian working conditions supported by our upcoming R&D centre in Pune coupled with inputs from our existing centers in Germany, US, and China.

Strengthening of product support.
As of now we have invested close to Rs.600 crores towards our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility and the training and distribution network in Pune. The factory has got in place all the advanced manufacturing standards in accordance with our other plants in other parts of the world, characterizing lean manufacturing and advanced quality standards. To fully ensure our cranes have higher uptime, we are having five regional offices and one dedicated office at Jamnagar with sizeable population of cranes which are supported by 55 service engineers and spare parts inventories of Rs.55 crores. To ensure that our customers continue to have product support all through the lifecycle of the cranes, we have rolled out SANY 333 PROMISE to our customers. Under the 333 PROMISE to our most valued customers, we promise 3 ARRIVALS, 3 FREES and 3 WARRANTIES which form the backbone of the confidence that our customers have in us.

Strengthening of training for acquaintance of engineering advancements in the cranes.
We are in the process of setting up a dedicated state-of-the-art operator training centre at our manufacturing facility in Pune. The training centre will be fully functional by the end of this year and will provide advanced simulation and actual training on cranes as well as on basic maintenance of the cranes. It will also impart training on trouble-shooting to enhance the uptime of the cranes on occurrence of defects. Sany India will certify the crane operators trained at the centre.
