Tata Hitachi, one of India’s oldest construction machinery companies and the largest excavator company, celebrated the landmark milestone of 60 years with the commemoration of its state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities at Dharwad and Kharagpur. Machines were handed over at both locations to a select group of customers to mark the occasion, while long-time customers were honoured at the plant and at the company’s corporate office at Bengaluru and its branch offices across the country.

Speaking on the occasion from Tata Hitachi’s Dharwad Plant, Sandeep Singh, Managing Director, Tata Hitachi, said, “Our success through six decades rests on the foundation of a reliable product line-up ranging from 2 to 120-ton Excavators and Wheel Loaders and our star Backhoe Loader ‘Shinrai’ – all of which are manufactured at our plants at Kharagpur and Dharwad and are supported by a well-equipped and countrywide dealer network. Tata Hitachi has been a pioneer in the Mining segment as a committed and dependable partner with its range of Mining equipment, backed by strong servicing support.”

Shin Nakajima, Director, Sales and Marketing, Tata Hitachi, addressing the attendees at the company’s Kharagpur plant, said, “The partnership between Tata Motors and Hitachi Construction Machinery brings to the table a unique amalgam of cutting-edge Japanese technology and Tata’s strengths of localisation, leadership and trust. This forms the foundation of the company’s success and its strong standing in the Indian market for excavators since decades.”
Tata Hitachi is a joint venture between Tata Motors and Hitachi Construction Machinery (HCM). The JV was established in 1984 – making it one of the longest-standing JVs in the industry.

Tata Hitachi has a manufacturing unit in Dharwad and another in Kharagpur, and over 240 customer touchpoints, including sales and services. It boasts of a diverse portfolio of mini excavators, construction excavators, mining excavators, backhoes, wheel loaders, and dump trucks, along with a wide range of attachments for numerous applications. It also offers industry-best options for after-sales services like Annual Maintenance Contracts, Full Maintenance Contracts, Site Support Agreements, and more.

Tata Hitachi has also set up a captive re-manufacturing facility to provide customers with attachments, refurbished aggregates, and certified used equipment at competitive rates.

“Over the last 60 years we have laid a strong foundation by adopting cutting-edge technology from Hitachi Construction Machinery. And with our focus on localisation, a substantial part of our equipment is sourced and manufactured in India, making us truly Aatmanirbhar,” said Singh.

“We are steadfast in our intent to support the Nation Building drive of the Government by helping build roads, rails, ports and urban developments, and are resolute in our pledge ‘Chalo Desh Banaye,’” he added.
