LiuGong- a total solution provider- wheel loader, motor grader, excavator
Product Support to be Key for LiuGong
In order to retain its present sales and expand business, Liugong India will be banking on its dealership network. This was said by Mr. Rohit Punjabi, Asst. Director (Strategy & Marketing), during an interaction at Excon 2013. According to Mr. Punjabi, "At present, our 20 dealers operating across India ensure that our machines reach to our customers in any part of the country. The dealers are our biggest assets for business promotion. As part of our expansion strategy, the number of outlets will continue to expand so that we are available 24x7 for our customers."Mr. Punjabi said, "Through better product support that has enabled us to strengthen our brand, we have been able to register good sales in the 5 ton class wheel loaders, outpacing well entrenched players in the market. Now our foremost motto is to focus ourselves as a total solutions provider ranging from motor graders, wheel loaders to excavators."
He mentioned further, "we will keep emphasizing on improved product support. Our intention is to restore the machine within a span of 48 hours, which we are almost very close to. To ensure better components support, we have set up a full fledged warehouse at Pithampur with spares and components available of 3 crores at any given point of time. This is three times more than that previously held."
Liugong India hopes to strengthen its brand in India through what it claims as its advanced engineered excavators. Mr. Punjabi claimed, "Liugong excavators perform better while digging and loading at lower operating costs. The products have been developed to suit Indian job site applications and are maintenance-friendly. Our excavators come with tougher, stronger boom and dippers; heavy-duty stabilizers have been introduced to achieve longer service life in tough terrains."
Liugong has its full fledged R&D facility in Pithampur that Mr. Punjabi claims has been instrumental in designing products suitable for Indian applications and increasing its sales amidst challenging market conditions. According to Mr. Punjabi, "We are planning to manufacture 6-8-20-36 tons class excavator models locally at Pithampur. We are also planning for increased localization of our wheel loaders through sourcing seals, pumps, transmission and other peripherals from local sources." The company does fabrication job in house at its plant in Pithampur itself. The Chinese construction equipment conglomerate derives 35% of its sales from corporate and remaining from the retail buyers in India.
