Escorts Unveils India's First Electric & Hydrostatic Tractor and 100-HP Backhoe Loader

Construction and farming machine manufacturing major Escorts showcased India’s first electric and hydrostatic tractor, along with an expanded global portfolio of tractors for the export and domestic market, on its new platform called Esclusive 2017. The company has also unveiled a powerful100-HP backhoe loader for the first time in India, for the export market.

Escorts has invested close to `20-30 crore in the development of its compact tractors that will cater to 22 HP to 90 HP range under its flagship brands Farmtrac and Powertrac, compliant with the Tier-4 emission norms of Europe and America. These brands come under the New Escort Tractor Series (NETS) that include higher horsepower tractors of 70-90 HP and compact tractors of 22-90 HP, including tractors for paddy and haulage.

The new product range is designed to meet the requirements in markets such as USA, Europe, Latin America, Africa and the ASEAN countries, and of the new-gen farmers in India who are willingly adopting new farming techniques.

Unveiling the range to a gathering of 43 international distributors in a glittering ceremony, Mr. Nikhil Nanda, MD, Escorts Ltd, said: "Escorts is extremely proud to present an electric tractor that displays our frugal engineering, and offers India's best to the world. Our newly launched NETS will provide a new experience in terms of user comfort and precision farming, globally, and the best part is their ‘wow’ factor with affordability.”

With the farming industry evolving and modernizing, Mr. Nanda said that Escorts will continue to make farming equipment more and more advanced, and will showcase its innovations through Esclusive every year on 6th September – the platform’s date of launch. He informed that the mechanical compact tractor will be available for sale in the first quarter of 2018 and the hydrostatic tractor in the second quarter. The electric edition is still in a nascent stage of development and production will take another year or so.

Equipped with Perkins 100 HP Engine and Escorts 90 HP Engine, meeting EU IIIA / BS III emission norms, the machine has been developed for the export markets of SAARC, Africa, Middle East and Latin American countries.”
