Currently, working on project 8828, an annuity project under National Highways Authority of India, Gammon India is upgrading a 64 km road stretch of the existing NH-77 between Hajipur and Muzaffarpur to four lane dual carriageways configuration, Gammon has deployed 12K Cat graders, 6 soil compactors, 4 Cat 320D excavators, 1 dozer and 5 loaders.
"We are doing substantial work and achieving good progress due to Cat machines. Performance-wise too, we are quite satisfied and are confident of completing the project in time," said Jaydeep Chakraborty, Deputy General Manager - Plant Department.
"We are especially satisfied by the performance of the Cat dozer. The blade is excellent for doing embankment work," he said adding that "Cat machines are the heart of our project contributing to the speedy progress. Since a variety of Cat equipment deployed, we have a requirement of after-sale service, which is adequately met by Caterpillar's and TIPL's excellent after sales support."
Successful operation and careful handling of machine is of prime importance to avoid accidents, damage and low performance standards. Caterpillar understands the prime importance of training operators for optimal output of machines.
Chakraborty said, "Caterpillar provides excellent training to our operators. The Caterpillar team was on site for four days and gave extensive training including class room and field training. Our operators have benefited a lot from it."
