retail mall in Mumbai
Western Railway (WR) had planned to build a shopping mall that will have retail, game zone and even a recreation room as its commercial department will offer 506 sq meter of space adjacent to the booking office. The successful bidder can use this space to open multi-brand shops supermarkets, apparels and multiplex. Usually, the sources of non-fare box revenue are mobile assets, out of home advertising, rail display network and content on-demand. A study in the recent past had pointed that level of non-fare revenues in the system on Mumbai suburban is 6 per cent when compared with other urban rail systems in the world. To boost non-fare box revenue, WR recently offered space for unisex saloons at Mumbai Central, Andheri, Goregaon, Kandivali and Borivali in Mumbai, and Surat in Gujarat. At Mumbai Central, it has awarded contract for an upgraded waiting room with facilities like massage and spa apart from spruced up interiors.
