WAI signs MoU with NAREDCO
The Waterproofing Association of India (WAI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Real Estate Development Council (NAREDCO) to enhance the quality of waterproofing practices in the construction industry. This collaboration aims to promote knowledge sharing on design and best practices, particularly in line with government initiatives such as green building and smart city programs. The MoU was formalized during the inaugural National Waterproofers Conference and Exhibition 2024, held in Gurgaon, Haryana.
Sandeep Chaudhry, President of WAI, while speaking about the necessity of the exhibition, said, “We have seen many bodies for different industries but none for the waterproofing industry. Therefore, getting together to spotlight waterproofing as an essential factor in the longevity and safety of a building, its importance, and to bring it into the right perspective was the need of the hour. This initiative represents a significant step towards improving industry standards and ensuring that waterproofing is recognized as a critical component of sustainable construction.”
Samir Surlaker, Director of Assess Build Chem Private Limited, emphasized during the conference, “Waterproofing should be viewed as a preventive measure, implemented when the rain begins, not merely as a response to leaks. This proactive approach can significantly protect the integrity of buildings.”
The conference attracted nearly 300 participants and exhibitors from India, the UAE, Korea, and other countries, fostering meaningful discussions that highlighted the critical role of waterproofing in building integrity and construction best practices. This landmark event featured global speakers from diverse segments of the industry, covering a wide range of topics, including waterproofing techniques, repairs, tunneling, thermal insulation, Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems (EIFS) and coatings, modern equipment and machinery, polyurea and polyurethane applications, remedial waterproofing, and insightful case studies.
