Commercial Vehicles Ltd. (VECV), which is a joint venture between the Volvo Group and Eicher Motors Limited, has recorded a growth of 18.5% by selling 4,935 vehicles in the just concluded month as compared to 4,163 units in the corresponding period in June last year. This includes 4,878 units of Eicher brand and 57 units of Volvo- vehicles. The joint venture covers VE Powertrain, Eicher's components and engineering design services business as well as the sales and distribution business of Volvo trucks within India. VECV vision is to be recognized as the industry leader driving modernization in commercial transportation in India and also in the developing world. Eicher branded trucks and buses have recorded a total sale of 4,878 units this year as compared to 4,063 units last year, representing a growth of 20.1%. For Q1 2016-17, Eicher branded trucks and buses clocked sales of 15,914 units as compared to 11,863 units in Q1 2015-16, thereby, recording a robust growth of 34.1%., said an official spokesperson in a media statement. Elaborating further, he said that in domestic CV market, Eicher branded trucks & buses have recorded sales of 4,256 units in June 2016 as compared to 3,537 units in June 2015 and clocked 20.3% growth and that for Q1 2016-17, the Eicher branded trucks and buses recorded sales of 13,602 as compared to 10,657 units in Q1 201516 and clocked a growth of 27.6%. On the Exports front, Eicher branded trucks & buses have recorded sales of 622 units in June 2016 as compared to 526 units in June 2015, clocking a growth of 18.3% and for Q1 2016-17 Eicher branded trucks and buses recorded sales of 2,312 as compared to 1,206 units in Q1 2015-16, thereby clocking a growth of 91.7%. Similarly, Volvo trucks have recorded sales of 57 units in June 2016 as compared to 100 units in June 2015, with de-growth of 43%. For Q1 2016-17 Volvo trucks recorded sales of 157 as compared to 265 units in Q1 2015-16 and declared a de-growth of 40.8%, he added.
