Uttarakhand CM Proposes Meerut–Haridwar RRTS Extension and Dehradun–Haridwar–Rishikesh Metro Corridor

Meerut-Haridwar-Metro
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has proposed the extension of the Namo Bharat Regional Rapid Transit System corridor from Modipuram to Haridwar, along with the development of a new metro rail corridor connecting Dehradun, Haridwar and Rishikesh.

The proposed RRTS extension will build on the existing operational corridor between Sarai Kale Khan and Modipuram, expanding rapid rail connectivity further north along the National Highway-58 alignment. The project aims to connect key locations including Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Roorkee and Haridwar, enhancing regional mobility.

In parallel, the proposed Dehradun–Haridwar–Rishikesh metro corridor is aimed at strengthening intra-state urban connectivity and supporting growing travel demand in Uttarakhand’s key urban and tourism centres.

If approved, the projects are expected to significantly reduce travel time between Delhi and Rishikesh to around 2.5–3 hours, while improving connectivity, boosting tourism, and supporting economic development across the Delhi–Meerut–Haridwar corridor.
