UP unveils 100-km Purvanchal expressway

Purvanchal expressway
In order to match its commitment made to the masses, the Uttar Pradesh government is planning to build a 100-km expressway directly connecting Purvanchal e-way with Allahabad. The project was announced shortly after nearly 100-km long another expressway link was approved by the state government for the Gorakhpur region for which the Rs 550 crore has already been cleared in the recent state budget. The state government has ordered a pre-feasibility study for the proposed 'Prayag Link Expressway' and that the construction work on the newly proposed link expressway is set to start very shortly as the construction work on the project would be completed before the Kumbh Mela scheduled to be held next year in January. The proposed expressway is going to be a four lanes road and it would be branched off near Sultanpur from the Purvanchal Expressway to Allahabad, an area currently serviced by a poorly-maintained highway that results in a three-hour long harrowing ride.
