The Uttar Pradesh government is all set to start the construction work of Metro rails in Kanpur, Agra, and Meerut among others cities and in this connection the detailed project reports has been sent to the Centre for mandatory clearances, CM said in a statement, elaborating that Lucknow Metro has helped people of the city and eased pressure on roads as Metro services have already started in Lucknow, Ghaziabad, and Nodia. The Centre on its part has already extended positive support and guidance for expanding the metro network in other cities. As a matter of fact, recently the state marked one year of commercial start of Metro service in the state capital and now the masses of the state are keen to see metro services in more and more states’ cities. Initially there were fear that Lucknow metro service will be run into losses but after its successful operation it has become crystal clear the operational cost and income of Lucknow metro is under control as in the first year of its operation over 33 lakh passengers used the Metro services, which not just resulted in easing traffic pressure on roads but also helped people to reach their destinations.
