Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh Inaugurates Key Road Projects in J&K
Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh held a public durbar and inaugurated multiple road projects in Kathua, Jammu & Kashmir, under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).
Among the inaugurated projects was the 14.2 km road from Block Boundary Kathua to Boura, a longstanding demand of the local population. This road provides connectivity to key habitations, including Baura, Bindal, Bindli, and Lari, and facilitates access to the historic Mata Sundri temple and district headquarters. Sanctioned under PMGSY-I in 2016 and PMGSY-II in 2018, the project had an estimated cost of ₹1,692.49 lakh for Stage-I and ₹669.68 lakh for Stage-II. Dr. Singh had laid its foundation stone in December 2016.
Additionally, Dr. Singh virtually inaugurated the 11.83 km L021 Champal road, built at a cost of ₹403.45 lakh, benefiting 901 people, and the 2.5 km L021 Dhar to Korkhana road, costing ₹171.24 lakh, benefiting 432 residents.
Addressing a public gathering, Dr. Singh highlighted the government's focus on improving connectivity in rural and remote areas of J&K. He announced that several ongoing road projects in Kathua district are nearing completion and will soon be inaugurated, enhancing connectivity and infrastructure in the region.
