PM Approves Rithala-Narela-Nathupur Corridor under Delhi Metro Phase IV
The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the Rithala-Narela-Nathupur (Kundli) corridor under Delhi Metro's Phase IV. Spanning 26.463 km, this extension will enhance connectivity between Delhi and Haryana, significantly boosting regional integration.
The project, estimated to cost ₹6,230 crore, will be executed by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), a 50:50 Special Purpose Vehicle of the Government of India and the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi. The corridor is expected to be completed within four years. This extension of the Red Line, currently operational between Shaheed Sthal (New Bus Adda) and Rithala, will feature 21 elevated stations, including Rithala, Bawana, Narela, Kundli, and Nathupur. It will serve areas like Rohini, Bawana, and Narela, linking them to Haryana and Uttar Pradesh through Delhi Metro’s existing network.
The new corridor aims to reduce road congestion and vehicular pollution while improving connectivity across the National Capital Region (NCR). By linking Delhi, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh, it is expected to boost economic activity and ease commuter travel.
Delhi Metro Phase IV consists of three priority corridors totaling 65.202 km, with 56% of construction already completed. These corridors are set to be operational in stages by March 2026. Two additional corridors, covering 20.762 km, are in the pre-tendering phase.
This will mark Delhi Metro's fourth extension into Haryana, complementing its existing routes to Gurugram, Ballabhgarh, and Bahadurgarh.
