In order to boost road infra network in the hill state, the Union Government has recently cleared five road projects measuring 570 km entailing an investment worth Rs.10,000 crore under its Bharatmala project in Uttarakhand, said official sources, claiming that a decision to this effect was recently taken under a review meeting of the ongoing projects in the state. The sanctioned projects include 94 km long Baijnath- Tharali- Karanprayag road, 147 km long Askot- Dharchula-Malpa-Lipulekh road, 216 km long Baijnath- Bageshwar- Kapkote- Munsiyari- Jolivi road, 51 long Mana- Musa Pani- Mana pass road and 63 km long Joshimath- Malari road. The Uttarakhand would become a changed state as most of these projects would get completed on war footing. In addition to these, more road projects worth Rs.50,000 crore would be undertaken in the state in the next two years. The officials informed that works have been awarded for 400 km stretch out of total 900 km under the mega project and the transport minister has directed the state agencies to take up a target of completing the process of tenders of the project by March this year.
