TN launches ₹260-cr east coast road project

Road Project
The much delayed six-lane stretch of East Coast Road starting from Thiruvanmiyur to Akkarai will have dual-level grade separators and would cost ₹260 crore. The DPR has been submitted to the authorities envisaging six-lane widening of road in Injambakkam with a distance of 11.4 km and envisaging acquisition of 4,256 sqm land. The peak hour traffic is expected to reach 10,000 passengers car units (PCU) per hour in the next five years. Consultants believe that the rate of traffic growth will be greater than the standard five percent, and that the dual level grade separator will give a long-term solution with zero conflict.
