The Tamil Nadu CM laid the foundation stone of a road over-bridge at railway level crossing 1 connecting Kolathur with Villivakkam. The ₹112.62 crore road over-bridge was originally proposed in 2003. It is being built by the Southern Railway and Greater Chennai Corporation. It will enable commuters to reach places in Villivakkam, Anna Nagar, Maduravoyal and Integral Coach Factory in lesser time. While a vehicular subway replacing level crossing 2 and a new over-bridge has already been built, the plan for the over-bridge at level crossing was lying in limbo for years causing much distress for the road users. In addition, the CM also laid the foundation of bridges at Vadaperumbakkam, Amullavoyal, Burma Nagar in North Chenna0i, and for a park in Villavakkam.
