Telangana takes up Rs. 8,000-cr roads
For building top-class road infra across the state, the Telangana government is sitting tight on centrally-sponsored projects worth Rs.8,000 crore conceived to ease vehicular traffic congestion by developing six state highways into national highways in the state. The Centre had given sanction for the projects last year, but the state government has failed to acquire land to develop six road stretches into four-lane national highways. For example, the alignment of the Suryapet to Khammam road, a 60-km stretch, has not been finalised. The total accumulated length of the six roads is over 500 km and the state administration is currently going to start the mega project as quickly as possible.
