Telangana takes up ₹55,000-cr urban infra projects

In order to match the population influx into Hyderabad and other urban cities in the state, the state government has earmarked ₹55,000 crore to build infrastructure for urban centres in the next three years. The projects have not just been aimed at enhancing the quality life of citizens, but also to transform the economic potential of urban areas minister for municipal administration and urban development (MAUD), K.T. Rama Rao, said adding that the on-going ₹25,000 crore Strategic Road Development Program will further be enhanced with ₹6,000 crore additional investment. Since all the urban areas of the state together contribute over 50 per cent to the state's economy with Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation contributing the lion share, the state is increasingly focusing on the development of urban areas and the entire development work would be completed in the next two years.
