Recently the municipal administration and urban development department in Telangana has cleared ₹505 crore for building grade separators, underpasses and elevated corridors under the Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP) within the Hyderabad municipal limit. Of this, ₹175 crore is meant to construct flyovers at Rethibowli junction with extension of down ramp up to Langer Houz main road and underpass at Nanalnagar junction. Another ₹330 crore has been cleared to construct a six-lane two-way flyover towards Outer Ring Road towards Kondapur and laying a 120-foot-wide road from Shilpa Layout to Gachibowli. According to a GHMC official, a 470-metre underpass will be constructed for commuters from Mehdipatnam to Gachibowli. The multidimensional underpass will have a three-lane road which would save time for commuters at Nanalnagar T-junction where traffic snarls is a routine matter. The corporation will construct a 700-metre flyover on the Gachibowli-Golconda route to provide signal-free travel to commuters. Besides, the civic body has decided to construct a 900-metre flyover on the Attapur Junction-Mehdipatnam stretch to ease traffic congestion at Rethibowli junction. This would be a second-level flyover above the PVNR expressway for which the government has cleared ₹170 crore to take up civil works and ₹5 crore for land acquisition, said sources.
