KT Rama Ra, the Minister for municipal and urban development in Telangana, has taken up the construction for the development of over 137 link roads under GHMC at a cost of ₹1,000 crore. The development of these roads is being carried out under the Hyderabad Road Development Corporation Ltd (HRDCL) an organization set up to cater to the road development in the capital region. The Minister informed that so far 21 of the link road works covering a distance of 28.76 km have been completed at a cost of ₹210 crore and the remaining will be completed within two years. In totality, the state government has started four different programs in the past six years. Under the Comprehensive Road Maintenance Program (CRMP) 709 km of roads have been handed over for maintenance to private companies at a cost of ₹1,800 crore for five years. In addition to HRDCL, the regular road maintenance program is also on, however several mega projects like Skyways require clearance from the centre.
