Suzlon Secures India’s Largest Wind Energy Order from NTPC Green Energy
Suzlon Group, India's leading renewable energy solutions provider, has announced securing the country's largest wind energy order from NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), the renewables arm of NTPC Limited. The order, totaling 1,166 MW, involves the installation of 370 wind turbine generators (WTGs) of the S144 model, each with a rated capacity of 3.15 MW. These turbines will be set up at three projects in Gujarat, including two under NTPC Renewable Energy Limited and one under IndianOil NTPC Green Energy Pvt. Ltd.
This significant win brings Suzlon's cumulative order book to nearly 5 GW as of September 3, 2024. Girish Tanti, Vice Chairman of Suzlon Group, expressed excitement over the collaboration, highlighting that this marks Suzlon's first direct wind energy order from NGEL, signaling a strong return to the PSU customer segment.
The project will be the largest wind energy initiative by a public sector unit (PSU) in Gujarat, further solidifying the state’s leadership in renewable energy. Upon completion, it will set a new standard for future projects and significantly contribute to India's energy self-sufficiency and economic growth, aligning with NGEL's target of adding 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032.
