South Central Railway Allocates Rs 13,026 Cr Capex for Track Doubling and New Lines in FY27

South Central Railway has allocated a capital expenditure of Rs 13,026 crore for FY 2026–27 to strengthen railway infrastructure, including new lines, track doubling and renewals.

The approved projects include Rs 1,315 crore for new railway lines and Rs 5,083 crore for track doubling works aimed at increasing network capacity and reducing congestion. In addition, Rs 1,908 crore has been allocated for track renewals to improve safety and operational efficiency across the zone.

Further allocations include Rs 403 crore for traffic facility works and Rs 683 crore for road safety projects, supporting smoother train operations and enhanced passenger safety.

These infrastructure projects are part of ongoing efforts to improve connectivity and capacity across key routes such as the Gudur–Vijayawada–Kazipet–Balharshah corridor, which serves as a major link between South and North India. The projects are expected to ease congestion, improve freight and passenger movement, and strengthen overall railway network efficiency in the region.
