Adding to urban infrastructure of the city, the Central government has decided to push Rs.1,000 crore for various schemes under the smart city project of the Belagavi urban cluster, Chief Executive Officer of the project, Shashidhar Kurer said, adding that the Central government has already sanctioned Rs.400 crore for Belagavi infra upgrading initiative. This is being channeled into different schemes to improve amenities for citizens, improve infrastructure like roads and bridges, conserve and develop water bodies, protect heritage structures and develop green spaces in the city. The project has secure encouraging feedback from 1.75 lakh people through letters and social media handles showing the level of involvement of the public in the city‘s development.
