Six Multi-Modal Logistics Parks to Boost Port Efficiency

Under the Bharatmala Pariyojana, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways plans to develop six Multi-Modal Logistics Parks (MMLPs) in Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata, Cochin, Visakhapatnam, and Kandla. These parks aim to streamline logistics by integrating multiple transport modes and enhancing supply chain efficiency.
The Chennai MMLP will be developed at a cost of ₹641.92 crore, while feasibility studies for the remaining five are underway. The parks will offer warehousing, freight handling, customs services, infrastructure connectivity, and environmental sustainability measures to improve port operations.
Developed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode, MMLPs will have a 45-year concession period, supporting India's goal of modernizing logistics and boosting trade.
