Roads in Uttarakhand get ₹700-cr infusion
The Union government has released ₹700 crore to upgrade and build multiple road projects in Uttarakhand, including in the Kumbh Mela area in Haridwar. The amount includes ₹325 crore as Special Assistance Capital for the Kumbh Mela, which is held in Haridwar once in 12 years and everyone coming to attend it will be allowed to have a holy bath in the Ganga. A 150-bed hospital has been built and 39 temporary hospitals with a total capacity of 463 beds have also been set up. Various infrastructure works have already been completed in the mela area with adequate help from the Centre.
