PCMC launches work on road connecting Pune-Mumbai e-way
The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has commenced the construction of Nigdi-Kiwale road, which will directly link the Pune-Mumbai highway in Nigdi to Mukai Chowk on the Sangvi-Kiwale BRTS stretch. The project had been delayed for two years due to land acquisition issues, but the PCMC has now resolved these issues and begun work on the new road. The Bhakti Shakti Chowk will serve as a connection point, and the road will substantially reduce travel time for motorists who would otherwise need to travel from Nigdi to Ravet or Kiwale and cross the railway tracks through the underpass near Akurdi railway station before proceeding on the Sangvi-Kiwale BRTS road. To address this circuitous route, the PCMC proposed the new solution. According to PCMC Commissioner Shekhar Singh, there were some encroachments on the land, but the civic body has successfully cleared them. Currently, construction work is in full swing on the approach road from the Ravet side.
