MSRDC launches work on ₹21,158-cr Pune-Nashik Green Corridor

The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC)
The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has commenced groundwork for the construction of the Pune-Nashik Green Corridor. In this regard, the corporation has appointed a consulting firm that has initiated work on two levels - railway and industrial routes. The preparation of a detailed project report (DPR) has been expedited due to the fact that Pune is an information technology, industrial, and cultural hub, while Nashik is a significant market for agricultural goods. Both cities have a network of small, medium, and heavy industrial units and agricultural institutions, making the Green Corridor a crucial development project that will connect Pune via the Samriddhi Highway.

Additionally, the Ministry of Railways has formulated Vision 2020, which entails building a semi-high speed railway between Pune and Nashik. The railway line's design has been approved by the Ministry of Railways and the State Government, and land acquisition work is already underway, with the project in its final stages of approval. Moreover, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has instructed MSRDC to prepare a technical and financial feasibility report for the Pune to Nashik Industrial Expressway, which is to be attached to the railway project.

The proposed Pune-Nashik corridor will span 178 km, with an estimated project cost of ₹21,158 crore, including land acquisition.
