MoRTH announces ₹1.52 lakh-cr new projects in Kerala

The Indian Union transport ministry has announced that construction will begin on five new bypasses and the widening of NH-66 as part of the Bharatmala project. The National Highways Authority of India will oversee the projects, which have a total investment of ₹1.52 lakh crore, including the proposed Vizhinjam-Paripally outer ring road.

In addition to the bypasses, a logistics park will be built in Kochi and 25 other logistics parks will be developed across the country. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari also revealed that the state government has requested the inclusion of 11 roads in the Bharatmala project, including the ₹66,000 crore NH 66 and five other projects totaling ₹86,000 crore. Land acquisition notification has been issued for the Kadampattukonam-Shenkottai greenfield expressway, and steps have been taken to fast track the Palakkad - Kozhikode Bypass, the Malappuram-Mysore greenfield expressway, and the Kochi - Tuticorin Expressway.
