MoRTH
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is allocated ₹2.78 lakh crore for the financial year 2024-25, including ₹1.68 lakh crore for the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The 2.7% hike in the budgetary allocation for road transport and highways comes on a high base and will be spent towards ongoing projects, while the new developments will come in from the private sector as planned by the government.

Previously, the outlay for the highways ministry and NHAI stood at ₹2.70 lakh crore and ₹1.62 lakh crore, respectively. However, this allocation has been revised to ₹2.76 crore for the ministry and ₹1.67 lakh crore for NHAI.

The total net allocation for the budget estimate of 2024-25 amounts to ₹2,84,000 crore, with an additional ₹6,000 crore to be sourced from the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund for road works financing.

Vinay Kumar G, Vice President & Sector Head - Corporate Ratings, ICRA, commented, "Capital allocation for the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways has seen a modest 3% increase, indicating the government's continued focus on the road sector. This enables the ministry to meet completion targets for Bharatmala and the National Infrastructure Pipeline. NHAI's budget remains unchanged from the previous year, with the government maintaining its nil borrowing program."
