Versova-Dahisar Project Cost Doubles to ₹35,955 cr in 6 Months

the total cost of the Versova-Dahisar Project
The BMC commissioner has disclosed that the total cost of the Versova-Dahisar Project has reached ₹35,955 crore. This figure marks a significant increase from the initial estimate of ₹16,621 crore when tenders were floated in August last year. Officials clarified that the apparent rise in cost is due to the inclusion of GST and various ancillary expenses in the latest budget presentation.

The project's alignment spans from Versova Interchange to Dahisar Interchange as part of the Mumbai Coastal Road Project. Additionally, an elevated GMLR connector is proposed from Mindspace Malad Junction on the Coastal Road to the starting point of GMLR in Goregaon East, aiming to connect the southern tip and western suburbs of Mumbai with Mulund and Thane.

Developed on a design and build basis, the project is divided into six packages due to its extensive length traversing different terrains, including mangroves, creek areas, and metro depots, along with various components requiring specialized expertise.

The BMC chief emphasized that the project will alleviate traffic congestion in Mumbai and provide pollution-free commuting options for commuters.
