India starts road construction at tri-junction in NE

road in Arunachal Pradesh
India has initiated the construction of a 78-kilometer strategic road in Arunachal Pradesh, near the crucial tri-junction of India, China, and Myanmar. The project, estimated to cost Rs 200 crore, will connect Dong village to Jachep camp and is expected to be completed in three years. The road, which is 3.75 meters wide, will provide a crucial transportation route for personnel, weapons, and ammunition in the vicinity of the Line of Actual Control and the tri-junction with China and Myanmar. A helipad is also planned along the road. The road traverses steep terrain, with a maximum speed limit of 30-40 km/hr, and starts at an altitude of 1,255 meters in Dong, rising to 4,500 meters near the tri-border. The highway will be built in accordance with the single-lane national highway specifications and will navigate through snowclad mountain tops to counteract the steep rise in elevation near Patthar camp.
