India Plans to Construct 50,000 km of High-Speed Corridors by 2047

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways in India has proposed the construction of 50,000 kilometers of high-speed (access-controlled) corridors by the year 2047. The plan aims to increase the average travel speed of trucks on the National Highway network from the current 45 kmph to 75-80 kmph. The vision document for this ambitious infrastructure project is being prepared by NITI Aayog, with a goal to position India as a developed economy with a GDP of about USD 30 trillion by 2047. The proposed expansion of high-speed corridors signifies a substantial improvement in transportation infrastructure and efficiency.
