REC Inks ₹16,000 cr Deals for Road Projects with Key Infra Players

The Rural Electricity Corporation (REC)
The Rural Electricity Corporation (REC) has signed four Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) totaling ₹16,000 crore with Dilip Buildcon Limited, GMR Power & Urban Infra, CDS Infra Projects & DP Jain & Co. Infrastructure for financing road and highway projects. In a recent conference on 'Financing for Roads and Highways,' hosted by REC, key stakeholders gathered to discuss and negotiate financing aspects of the sector.

Anurag Jain, Secretary of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), highlighted the ministry's vision for sector development and ease of financing road projects. He expressed optimism about REC and MoRTH growing together through collaborative efforts.

Vivek Kumar Dewangan, CMD of REC, emphasized the company's loan portfolio and its vision for financing non-power infrastructure, with a specific focus on the road sector. He acknowledged the government's initiatives such as Bharatmala, Sagarmala, and the National Infrastructure Pipeline (NIP), which have set the stage for substantial expansion in the roads sector.
