Goa gets ₹7,000-cr road infra projects

The Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari has approved ₹7,000 crore road projects for Goa. The newest approval is in addition to the ₹1,250 crore road projects sanctioned earlier. The minister said that the State government under its annual plan 2021-22 had proposed 13 new projects at an estimated cost of ₹809 crore, for which the sanction has already been granted. Also, another eight projects at a cost of ₹3,500 crore were also approved. Additionally, two works related to NH 17B and NH66 are sanctioned at a cost of ₹305 crore and ₹400 crore has been sanctioned to make the road stretch along MES junction in Dabolim to the Verna traffic signal. Work has been approved for redesigning of Bambolim subway near Goa Medical College to make it pedestrian friendly incluing people with disabilities. The Central government has undertaken road development works in the state to the tune of ₹22,000 crore since 2014.
