Delhi's Barapullah phase-III project resumes after land approval
The long-delayed Barapullah Phase-III project in Delhi has received a green light after the Lieutenant Governor (L-G) approved the acquisition of required land. The L-G has directed an inquiry into the delayed planning and land assessment, causing a six-year setback and a cost escalation of Rs 362 crore. The approval includes the acquisition of two land parcels in village Nangli Razapur, South East District. The L-G highlighted discrepancies in cost estimates, stating the government would end up paying Rs 1326.37 crore, contrary to the initial tender amount of Rs 964.00 crore. Negligence in planning and surveying was noted, leading to delays and significant cost overruns.
