The Arunachal Pradesh government has planned to construct a 1,500 km long Frontier Highway along the border with China, involving an investment of Rs 40,000 crore. The mega highway project will be constructed along the India-Tibet-China-Myanmar border and will connect the remotest parts of the state. It will be as close as 20 km from the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and the international borders. On completion, the Frontier Highway will hold a huge strategic value as it will connect high-density populated areas with the state capital and important places such as Tawang, Mago Upper Subansiri, Upper Siang, Mechuka, Tuting, Dibang Valley, Kibithoo, Changlang and Dong. The highway will start from Bomdila and pass through Nafta, Huri, and Monigong, which are closer to the LAC or the McMahon Line. It will end in Vijaynagar, near the Indo-Myanmar border. This project will also link the 1,811-km-long Trans-Arunachal Highway (under construction) that connects Tawang in north-western tip to Kanubari in south-eastern end of the state. It finally ends at the National Highway (NH)-52 near Akajan, close to Bogibeel Bridge near Dibrugarh in Assam and adjacent to Yangtse. Apart from this, the state administration will also construct an additional 1,000 km of roads to enhance connectivity in the region.
