Railway lines up 498 infra projects worth ₹6.75Lakh-cr
The Indian railway has lined up 498 infrastructure projects worth ₹6.75 lakh crore, which are currently in different stages of sanctionioning. The projects include 188 new lines, 55 gauge conversion and 255 doubling projects; the total length of these projects is 49,069 km. To ensure speedy completion, railway is incentivizing the contractor with a bonus clause in the contracts. For capacity enhancement of the projects, the Railways has secured an institutional loan of ₹1.5 lakh crore, which has increased its capacity for funding essential projects.
